This is a study of line with brush, Ink and paper. Understood in the margins of the represented topic, it starts form an outdoors experience in Gaoping “China”, a rural area which economy is based in the corn farming. There the landscape is characterized by wide cornfields that might seem sometimes even endless, in which dimensions I had the opportunity to immerse myself during the Autumn season of 2017.
I could explore then the textures and shapes of the dried canes through the physical experience and the practice of drawing. A walk through this environment happened to be an experience that was constantly evoking the fantasy of being walking through a paper forest, a feeling ofered by the nature of those dried leaves that, when being moved by the breeze or my own movements, produced a sound not too different for the one made by the papers in my studio. What a fantastic delirium: long walks inside a paper sea where fruits don’t remain anymore after the harvest, only the repeted dried body of the cane is left , letting itself turn in time back into the earth from which it once emerged.
